Heather S
Is it possible to have certain specific objects (ie-windows) have hidden attributes in an orthagonal viewport? If so, how? Sorry, kinda new at 3-D stuff when it comes to VW. Thanks Heather Quote Link to comment

Heather S
For example, in an elevation view of a wall in a viewport, I have cabinets and doors behind this wall. I want to be able to see just the door but not the cabinets with dashed lines (hidden). Does this help? Heather Quote Link to comment
Travis
Heather, Two key points might help: 1) Be sure to assign distinct classes to the various objects & components you want to control. ie, Cabinet-Base; Cabinet-Doors; Cabinet-Countertop; etc. Classes can be turned on/off in the viewport (VP) settings to control what shows. 2) Don't hesitate to copy/paste-in-place multiple viewports on top of each other. One can have a different render mode or with different class settings. Generally, these two features woven back and forth allow you to display whatever you need. Good luck, Quote Link to comment
Heather S
I have tried the 1st idea. However, when I render it the interior lines on the exterior walls show. Is there a way to prevent that. Thanks for the reply. Quote Link to comment
MKingsley
It sounds like you're in "Dashed Hidden Line" mode instead of just "Hidden Line". And do your walls have a solid fill? Quote Link to comment
Heather S
well, I've tried every which way to render. Ya my walls are filled. I coppied the objects that I wanted to be in hidden line form and put them on the annotations layer. It works but the action seems kinda crude to me. I am however still up for suggestions. Guest
I think Michael has the right solution - check to see which hidden line rendering mode you are using. There are two Hidden Line Rendering Modes - Hidden Line and Dashed Hidden Line. The Dashed Hidden Line rendering mode will draw dashed lines representing the line work of "hidden" object face networks. The Hidden Line Rendering (plain) will not render with dashed lines and only display the front most object from the viewing angle. It's as if everything has been painted white and rendered. If you still see dashed lines and you can confirm you are using "Hidden Line", not "Dashed Hidden Line", check to see if you have an actual line object - 2D object - where the dashes are displaying. Hidden line renderings cannot hide 2d line work. Edited March 12, 2007 by Katie Quote Link to comment
