Daryl Wood
Why does this worksheet function return an average wall height that is different than the actual average height of the wall? I have a wall that is 2' tall and the returned value is 2'8". Quote Link to comment
panthony
Daryl, It's a bug...the system is adding up the surface area plus the sides. NNA is working on a fix. Quote Link to comment
Daryl Wood
Thanks Pete. Is the a way to gain access to the OIP field data for walls to use in a worksheet? Quote Link to comment
panthony
Yes, length(criteria) X Wallaverageheight...wall average height is kind of amusing as it is trying to calculate sloped walls..it can get pretty close but takes some pretty intricate math. I am going to see if there is a way to find the wall delta Z height x length that should work for non sloped walls. C'mon NNA Quote Link to comment
Daryl Wood
Hi Pete, I'm hoping your name is Pete. I have had success with the Length() field, although it returns inches and needs to be divided by 12 to get feet (I'm not aware of this little fact being stated anywhere in a help file or manual). I would like to return the data from the +/- Z field, I set my wall heights in that field. Any ideas on worksheet syntax? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Darick@Vectorworks Posted February 15, 2007 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 15, 2007 The following will give you average wall height for walls that don't have peaks =VOLUME/WALLTHICKNESS/LENGTH Quote Link to comment
Daryl Wood
Thanks Darick for the reply but that does not work. For a 9'1 1/8" frame wall it returns values below 12" Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Darick@Vectorworks Posted February 15, 2007 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 15, 2007 I forgot there's a problem with units. If you're working in feet and inches multiply by 12. =VOLUME/WALLTHICKNESS/LENGTH*12 Quote Link to comment
panthony
Daryl, Right now there is no way to extract the wall height using any function or formula available from NNA due to the bug in the WALLAVERAGEHEIGHT, WALLAREA_GROSS and WALLAREA_NET functions. There is a vectorscript function that sets the "Z" and "Delta Z" when a wall is placed but that data is not retrievable in a worksheet. We will all need to wait on the Math Guru's at NNA to fix the bug. Pete A. Quote Link to comment
