Print quality fuzzy in vw12.5

I have recently switched from vw11 to vw 12.5 I'm on OS 10.4.7

since the switch, the print quality is noticeably worse. lines are not as crisp, heavy lineweights appear fuzzy, patterns are not as fine. i tried both quartz imaging on and off, that doesn't solve the print quality. I plot to hp designjet800ps. Any advice? Thanks.

Have you tried cleaning the printer? Sometimes accumulated ink/dust can lead to fuzzy prints.

I doubt it's the printheads, because i was plotting from 2 different stations with 2 different versions of vw in order to compare the quality of the plots.
