12.5.1 update installer problem

andy c

Question

I downloaded the updater for 12.5.0 to 12.5.1 and tried to install it. when locating the folder where VW resides, as the update installer instructed, the installer proptly quit before i could select the VW folder.

I tried this several times, even quit all and restarted, same result. I have a brand-new Mac running the latest OS X, VW 12.5.0 runs fine.

What is the matter with this update installer?

I left the VW 12.5 folder and all contents untouched in Applications before attempting to install 12.5.1. (The older VW 11 folder is also still in Applications.)

Since trying and failing to install the upgrade, and now reading about so many problem reports, i am reluctant to try again. Please reassure me!

Exact same problem here, Running on OS X on a MacBook Pro, repaired permissions, rebooted, checked the application folder permissions settings and they all check out. However, Checking the package contents shows that the installer is using a classic application that isn't supported on the Intel based Macs, called Update Vectorworks.. When the system asks for an admin password to give it priveledges to install it actually shows the icon used for applications that wont run on Intel Macs due to being classic apps also.

"When the system asks for an admin password to give it priveledges to install it actually shows the icon used for applications that wont run on Intel Macs due to being classic apps also"

Are you getting a prompt to enter a password when you start the installer?

The installer works on Intel machines.
