wezelboy
This has been bugging me since VW11, but I've just sucked it up and kept my mouth shut. Using Option-Drag to duplicate an object used to be a big part of my workflow, but it has been broken for quite some time. Holding down the option key on a selected object gives a nice '+' cursor, but when you click and move the object, it doesn't create a duplicate to move but just moves the original object(s) Occasionally it will make a duplicate, but only if there are no snap points involved. I'd really like to get this working again, because I can draw a lot faster with it. Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Not seeing this behavior. OptionClick (or drag) has worked fine (and consistently) for me since - forever. Quote Link to comment
Guest
Do you have click drag drawing enabled in VW Preferences? Quote Link to comment
jan15
At one time, long ago, you just had to hold down the Ctrl key when starting to drag, but then it changed to having to hold it down till the drag was finished. Are you doing that? Quote Link to comment
wezelboy
Looks like that might be the problem. Thanks Jan! For the record, I like the old way better. :-) Quote Link to comment
Petri
There was no "old way". Just checked and at least in 9.5, it is exactly the same. Quote Link to comment
J. Johnson
Heh. 9.5 isn't old if you've been using since MiniCad4. Quote Link to comment
wezelboy
You musta been in diapers while I was bustin' my chops in MiniCad. ;-) Quote Link to comment
Petri
Sorry, J. I can't reinstall MC 3 - no diskette drive - to see how it was in the good old days. Edited January 31, 2007 by Petri Quote Link to comment
J. Johnson
Petri- it's probably a good thing. I know I wouldn't go back. Quote Link to comment
Petri
Well, there is something in Simplicity... I did some fine drawings with MC 3 and didn't need to worry about Plug-Ins being in the Workspace. Quote Link to comment
jan15
Petri, Version 8.5.2 does it the old way ? you only have to hold down Ctrl when starting the drag. wezelboy, I agree that the old way was better. A number of finer points were lost forever when they re-wrote VW for v9. Quote Link to comment
Petri
Is that so, Jan! I guess I was - for once - the Reasonable Man and adjusted myself to the world. Well, I was wrong, then: there was the old (and better) way. This may explain why I have constant problems with option-drag and shift-constraints. Quote Link to comment
