One click into Crop or Annotations of a Viewport

Christiaan

Question

I think the interface to get into the Crop or Annotations of a Viewport is unnecessarily onerous.

How about, just like we have an Exit button on right hand side of the Mode Bar to get out of Crop or Annotations, we also have a button to get into Crop and Annotations in the same place (if a Viewport is selected)?

Did you know that you can right click on a viewport and choose which mode of editing a viewport you want to use?

While in edit mode, you can right click and choose another mode.

In addition, when you double click on a viewport, you are presented with a dialog box asking you how you want to edit the viewport. You can select a specific edit mode so double clicking does not take you to the dialog box first.

I hate hidden features that are visible only after some secret handshakes. The whole point of the Macintosh user interface is that everything is there right in front of you, so even when you have not done something in a long time, you don't need to run around clicking.

(Right click, yeah... I think I know where these great user interface ideas come from...)

the right mouse click is not a hidden feature, it?s a contextural menu that changes as you click in different places, or on different objects. If you right mouse click on a viewport, you get viewport options, if you right mouse click on a chain dimension you get chain dimension options.

The contextural menu is more in keeping with the Mac interface than extra buttons on the already crowded interface

No, I can't "right-click". I don't have the dexterity for that, I don't like to hold the mouse with a Secret Grip and get RSI. I can, however, control click.

Some others may not even have a mouse. Perhaps by choice, perhaps because of a handicap. If the viewport window would be "cluttered" with two or three more buttons next to the "exit" button, all pointing devices would be equal. Includin voice activation.

It is of course predictable, that healthy young men brag about their ability to stand on their heads to get a function to work and make jokes of those who can't, but they may one day find themselves with only one arm and no fingers in the other hand... (No, that's not me but I know an architect in such a condition.)

Wow, you must look on with a mixture of awe, wonder and envy at a touch typist.

The Secret Grip is only used on the Logitech Freemasons model I think.

If the final paragraph was refering in some way to me, thanks, at my age somebody refering to me as young in any shape or form is a compliment as far as I'm concerned.

All the best

Alan
