Problems with Wall Joins

To be a little more specific (no offense Peter E): the WALL JOIN tool has 3 basic modes, "T", "L", & "X". You can select any mode (for other tools too) either with the mouse or by hitting the "U" key (which will take you through each mode in turn). So now, as Peter says above, you need to be sure you are using the wall join tool in the correct mode for each particular situation. TIP: when you have three walls coming together at a corner, use the "L" join on the first two, then use the "T" join on the third (to the 1st or 2nd). HTH's

I?m still learning tricks, but I have found that the "command+J" maneuver to be a great timesaver. So, Amy, if you have 2 unconnected perpendicular walls, just select both, hit command J, (or control J for windows), and they?ll cleanly connect. (Same goes for simple lines) You can practice with wall join tool, as Peter suggests to "clean up" extraneous wall extensions.

I ran into the same problem- Here is what I do to avoid it:

If you are already on the "T" option and you are trying to join 2 walls that are perpendicular to each other, click on the vertical wall first and then the horizontal wall. If you do it in the opposite order, you will lose half of your horizontal wall.
