It never ceases to amaze me that AutoCAD users assume that everyone uses the same version (or later) they have, with the same add-ons, including THEIR special, home-cooked font (shape?) files. They also believe that the recipient knows the unit they have used by some sort of ESP.

They don't have a phone, no email, no means of communicating with other parties...

I recently received some AutoCAD files and had big problems bringing them into VW. So sent them to a friend with AutoCAD 2006 - he saved them out again as dwgs and they imported fine.

I make a rule now of always asking what version of AutoCAD they are.

If you right click a dwg file and open it in Notepad or I imagine a similar program on a Mac - the AutoCAD file version is displayed in the first bit of text.
