Create roof

Hi have a simple roof shape that is causing VW to pop up an info box that reads:

"Could not create roof, house drawing is too complex to compute roof"

The house is not very complex but apparently VW think is is. Anyone know why this is happening?

Sometime this happens if the poly you are using has co-linear vertices (that is, vertices that exist along the same straight line). If you double click on the poly you can then find and remove these with the (-) sign mode of the edit tool.

Are you creating the roof from a network of walls or a polygon?

If they are walls, make sure all the walls are properly joined and that no walls extend past where it would intersect another.

I run into this all the time. First I do what Peter suggests. Sometime that is the cure. The next thing I will do in simplify the roof. If I have bay windows I will eliminate those as I can simply make them separate from the main roof.

Or, I might divide the main roof in half and create each half individually.

Experiment and you will see what we mean.
