JoeF
I want to create my own custom drawing border (not title block). The documentation says this is possible, but I cannot locate the directions. Any help is, as always, greatly appreciated. Quote Link to comment
Jonathan Pickup
the drawing border is a title block, isn?t it? Quote Link to comment
JoeF
The drawing border is what gets inserted onto your sheet layer when you use the drawing border command. Once you have your drawing border you can place a title block on it. It is the default drawing border that I want to change. Quote Link to comment
Jonathan Pickup
maybe you can make a title block that is the border you want and add that to the drawing border. I don?t think you can make any changes to the drawing border that are not already options on the Object Info Palette Quote Link to comment
JoeF
I guess the drawing border is hard wired into VW. I wonder why this appears in the manual in the chapter called "Creating Drawing Borders". Various types of drawing borders can be created, including ConDoc, GSA, AEC, ASME, and ISO formats and their associated title blocks, revision blocks, tolerance blocks, projection blocks, and issue and revision data. Vectorworks, Inc Employee Robert Anderson Posted November 25, 2006 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted November 25, 2006 Joe, what about the drawing border do you want to change? You can change the default options by setting them the first time you insert a DB or by using the Preferences button when you choose the DB tool. Is there some behavior / graphic that the DB does not do that you want? Quote Link to comment
JoeF
I wanted a border that did not have grids so I checked the documentation and found a chapter on drawing border creation. This led me to believe I could "create" a drawing border the same way I could create a title block. This led to much fruitless searching for a way to create this drawing border. In frustration I came here and posted my message. I can probably do what I need with preferences, but this did not occur to me as the docs led me to the notion that the drawing border was as modifiable as a title block. The documentation is not very helpful in this case as it confuses the drawing border with the title block, and they are definitely two different objects. Quote Link to comment
David Bertrand
There's a drawing border plug-in object which you can add to a tool palette using the workspace editor. The object info palette allows you to change its characteristics. Quote Link to comment
Squiidly
You can turn off the grids as an option in the object info palette. Quote Link to comment
JoeF
I know all this stuff now. If I had known it was impossible to create a drawing border I would have explored the object info palette in greater depth right from the start. I made the mistake of going to the help file and reading the chapter on drawing border "creation". Well you cannot create a drawing border only modify it through the object info palette. So that is what I will do. Quote Link to comment
