Win B.
VW 12.5 w/Windows XP (Lenova T60, Dual Core 2, 2 GB RAM). Screen redraws after zoom does not regen screen until command ZZ and then selection handles on objects are usally gone and VW needs to be re-started. Is there a fix or do we go back to an older version? Win B. Quote Link to comment
P Retondo
Haven't had this issue. I do find that redraw is sometimes necessary to get the full screen to display, but I've never had selection handles disappear. Quote Link to comment
MullinRJ
I have had them disappear, but they always returned after a screen redraw. Raymond Mac G4 / OSX 10.4.8 VW 12.5 D/RW Quote Link to comment
Guest
Win - When was the last time your video driver was updated? If it's been a while, try updating the video driver. Quote Link to comment
adroney
I had a similar problem with a new IMAC. The handles would disappear and stay that way until I restarted VW. It was only with one file though. And that same file went corrupt the next day! Quote Link to comment
P Retondo
Okay, now I've experienced the lost selection handles problem. Selection is still enabled (OIP indicates correct selection set). Problem does not occur in other open files. Requires a reboot of VW. Video driver is up to date. This seems to be happening when I change 3d views, get a view with some objects that should be there not visible, and use "ZZ" to regenerate the view. At this point, all objects become visible and are selectable, but the selection handles do not appear until after closing and restarting VW. P Retondo
Hi Katie, somehow my signature was deleted from the previous post. I'm on pc (dual core), WinXP Pro x64. Quote Link to comment
Guest
Is your video card x64 compatible? Quote Link to comment
P Retondo
Hi Katie, the card and 64 bit OS came with the computer (NVDIA Quadro FX 3450/4000 SDI, driver version 9.1.3.6). I just updated my driver from the March 2006 version to the September 2006 version, I'll let you know if that appears to make any difference. Quote Link to comment
P Retondo
Katie, update: still encountering this problem despite latest video card driver. I find that it is not necessary to restart VW to get the problem to disappear. I just have to close and open the file. I can't replicate the problem, otherwise I'd submit it as a bug. It seems to occur when changing 3d views, and seems to correspond to situations where the screen draw is incomplete. Doing what I think is the exact same series of operations does not necessarily trigger the problem. Incomplete screen draws are a problem I've encountered frequently in v12, and I usually just zoom or hit "zz" to get a complete view of all objects. Are these problems something you've experienced or heard about? Quote Link to comment
Guest
Pete, Is it happening w/ other files, or just the one file? I've heard of the problem, but updating the video driver always resolves the problem OR the person is using Win 64 w/ an unsupported video card. Quote Link to comment
P Retondo
Katie, so far I've only experienced the loss of selection handles in one file. The only change in my system I've made lately is a new monitor. My video driver is the latest and, according to NVIDIA, the correct driver for the 64 bit system. Quote Link to comment
