Hunter B
Ok... I'm trying to use the planer caps tool and it ain't workin' I create a boomarang kind of shape useing the line tool and smoth the corners with the fillet tool... I then extrude everything...I've learned thru tech support that I have to convert everything to Nurbs for the fillets to extrude properly... I then select all and use the "planer cap tool" to enclose this shape. When I do all I get is a repeat of all the sides and curves that I then can pull apart and edit, but no a top and bottom. I've even tried to place a flat plate on the top and bottom of this shape and then use the "stitch and trim surface" tools... this doesn't seem to work either. HELP!!! Does anybody get these power pack tools to work?? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Biplab Posted October 31, 2002 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 31, 2002 Please make sure that the Boomerang profile that you are creating is a "closed" profile - if there are gaps - the extrude would be open and create planar caps may not work. Vectorworks, Inc Employee Biplab Posted October 31, 2002 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 31, 2002 Often times, what I do is convert the profile to 3D polygons and check in the OIP if the closed check box is ON or not. This is a good way to check if the profile is actually closed or not. Quote Link to comment
Hunter B
ok.... I've converted everything to 3d Polys and tried the stitch trim tool, and the planer capsd tool.... I converted everything to NURBS and tried both the tools again still no luck....I check to see if there are any gaps in the extruded Boomarang shape, there are none. Quote Link to comment
gdickson
Seems like the hard way to go about it. Create a polygon and edit the verts to achieve the curve you need. It is now polyline, extrude to the height required. Apply edge blend to the top and bottom surfaces. Quote Link to comment
