0 Dave_Donley
Hi jaz1416: What specfically do you mean by adding diffusion? Is it like de-focusing the light or something? Dave Donley dave@nemetschek.net Quote Link to comment
0 grant_PD
diffusion ( found at the back end of the gel books) is a way to "fill in the gaps" when using theatrical lighting instruments. It's made in a variety of different weaves so that it will disperse the light in different ways. It's also used to create light effects that appear to come from a diffused source, ie. through a window shade or curtain, flourescent light fixtures etc. I haven't tried it but I imagine one could make diffusion in vectorworks by placing a textured polygon in front of the light source that has the some transparent properties. Ideally though, it would be nice if the gel function in spotllight could be updated to already include these textures. I have to say that I love spotlights function using lighting instruments. Focus points make everything so easy. If shutters could be added I would be in heaven. As of now I do my own shuttering method, and it's a very time consuming process, but the effects of doing so are night and day in the renderings. Quote Link to comment
0 td4stage
Shurttering would be nice. Grant, how do you "shutter" the lights? Currently we either have to go to extremes to shutter or leave the units like they are leaving "spill" all over the place. I am pretty anal-retentive, so this drives me crazy! Quote Link to comment
