BDesign
We are working off a network here in our office and when we go to save a file we get a read/write error and have to save the file under a different name. What are the reasons for this error? Is there a way to correct it? We only have one person working on Vectorworks in our office. When we go to delete the old file (after renaming and saving the new one due to the "read/write" error), we get a message saying the file is still in use and cannot delete it. Is there a remedy? We are getting piles of files mounting up in our network due to this error. I thought 12.5 might solve some of the file saving issues. B Quote Link to comment
jfmarch
sounds like a network issue. you should post your OS info. Quote Link to comment
PeterT
I don't know what platform you are on, but it sounds like the file does not have Read/Write permissions. If on a Mac, Get Info on the file, and check that it is not Read Only. Quote Link to comment
BDesign
The OS is 10.4.2. I'm not sure if it is a network issue or not. We are working off a main server. But no one else is working on that file. I will check the read/write permissions though to see if that is the issue. Thanks for the help thus far. Quote Link to comment
BDesign
Ok... So the permissions are set as: Owner: Read and Write Group: Read only Others: Read only I am going to try to change those permissions. It does not seem to solve the issue yet. And it definitely does not solve the issue of trying to delete the updated files. We still get the message that the old files are "still in use." B Quote Link to comment
Travis
You definitely have a network/server/permissions issue(s). Once you get the permissions set the way you need them (currently, only the Owner could save changes to an existing file), you'll want to run Disk Utility and perform Verify Permissions then Repair Permissions. Good luck, Quote Link to comment
BDesign
Thanks! Seems to be working well now... Quote Link to comment
