sbeers
Just upgraded our server to a new Intel based Mac Server running the most current version of OS X Server. Vectorworks has been a constant problem since the upgrade. Aside from the files being read only for know known reason, the latest is that the files are corrupting on a regular basis and there is only a slim chance of recovery. If they do recover, they is a 50/50 chance they will recover fully. Even the back ups are corrupting. Has anyone else experienced this? Quote Link to comment
Dexie
Sounds like the same sort of problem that we are encountering. Using Windows 2003 Server. Files also dissappearing in front of your eyes as you double clik on them and having to be restored from backup tape. See message posted today. Quote Link to comment
Guest
Sbeers - What version of OS 10 is installed? What version of VW are you using? Quote Link to comment
Grant M
Has anyone else experienced this? I've encountered this in 2 different offices. Currently using OSX server 10.4.6 Your read only problem should be solved by altering permssions on the server so that file access is not limited to the computer that created the file. File corruption is more problematic, and I'm also hoping VW will be more network friendly in the future. Quote Link to comment
Guest
Grant - 10.4.8 fixes some apple related corrupt file issues, and VW 12.5 fixes a good bit of the other corrupt file related issues. Quote Link to comment
jfmarch
This happened to us some time ago when we copied files from the server to network servers. What would happen is our backup software would update the latest files while we worked on them. Since it could not do this, we were left with 4k files that overwrote the real files on the server. We quickly abandoned this and now work across the network on files with no issues... Quote Link to comment
Grant M
Thanks Katie I'll update our server software. And I'll have to put the hard word on the money man for the VW upgrade Quote Link to comment
