Guest
Can any one help with this? I have a shed roof built with the Roofing Tool. I want the shed to be on an angle and be able to apply a hatch to its roof that is still square to the roof in Top Plan view when I rotate it to the angle I require. When I hatch it - either Modify\Hatch or Class Fill - Type Hatch ticked at creation or Attributes Hatch, the Hatch does not Rotate with my shed. Is the only way to turn it into a Symbol and in the Resource Browser select the hatch, Right Click it - Edit and tick Rotate in Symbol or is there another way to Rotate my roof with the hatch staying associative. panthony
Darrell, Presently you cannot rotate hatch out of 2D. However you can create a 2D polygon...hatch it...then save it as an image that you can map to the surface and rotate in 3D. It will have the appearance of rotated hatch that will follow the geometry of the rotate. Pete A. Quote Link to comment
Guest
Pete, Thanks - I turned my shed into a Symbol and can rotate away. I will keep this in mind. Quote Link to comment
cbaarch
you can apply a non-associated hatch to an object which allows rotation of a 2D hatch (it actually creates a group) not recommended for wholesale use, but good for a one off object look for "applying hatches" in help Quote Link to comment
panthony
cbaarch, I took your advice and experimented with non-associated hatch. It is very possible to apply any hatch to an object in 3D but the steps are tedious. Here is an example... Your right I would not want to do this to an entire building! Pete A. Quote Link to comment
