bhagood
Can someone help me figure out how to dimension in a perspective view of a 3-d object. For instance, If I were to create a cube, and set it into a viewport at at 3/4 view, whenever I try to pull dimensions from corner to corner, all I get is the distance as it appears, not the ACTUAL distance between the points. Is it possible to have dimensions in such a view? Any help is appreciated! Quote Link to comment
G_Hannigan
I think bhagood is encountering the problem with using VW dimensioning, which are 2D objects, in a 3D environment. This has been discussed on another thread, I will try to find it. Quote Link to comment
G_Hannigan
There's a work-around at Vector Depot (Misc Page) in PDF format. Scroll down the page to: 3D Model Dimensioning Tutorial http://www.vectordepot.com/Misc1.shtml It's not a tool, rather a way of using layer linking to give the look of 3D dims. Paolo
At Vector Depot there is a set of script to help generate and dimension exploded isometric view. It has an isometric dimensioning tool that uses islandmon algorithm. http://www.vectordepot.com/market/vm-017_explosion_tools.html It works only on isometric views (snapping on 3D edges along XY or Z planes). It's a workaround waiting for a native 3D dimensioning from NNA. Quote Link to comment
