Bart Rammeloo
I case you'd like to know: the trees in Artlantis are from VBvisual - www.vbvisual.com. Xfrog has also shrubbery and flowers (in 3d), but not a lot of them. Doschdesign.com also offers a collection of plants and trees. Quote Link to comment
propstuff
As noted previously; HDRI has made lighting a lot easier. This half built model is lit only by 1 Sun and a couple of different HDRIs. The sunset and morning are lit by the same HDRI rotated. The renderings were done in Custom Radiosity. Here are some samples morning day evening evening lights detail In this evening shot I've added the interior lights It's not Maxwell Render, but it was certainly pretty easy to bung in an HDRI and a sun and hit the Go Button. Oh!,.. alright,.. I fiddled with the interior lights a bit till I was satisfied. ;-) N Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
They are all very well but I can't post comparisons with Artlantis if no one's going to offer up their VW files. What are you scared of? Quote Link to comment
propstuff
What are you scared of? You callin' me chicken, boy? That's pretty manly talk for someone who hasn't got an email in their profile. Quote Link to comment
G_Hannigan
I'd be interested in knowing the render time. One of the main arguments for the use of "stand alone" renderers is that, unlike RW, you can continue to use Vectorworks while they render in the background. Quote Link to comment

propstuff
George, Render times were about 15-20mins (longer with more lights) at that size. (about1200 pixels across) Quote Link to comment

G_Hannigan
Nicholas, Thanks. I think adding HDRI support to RW is great. George Quote Link to comment

Ray Libby
Eddie, They are all just extrudes, no extrude along path. I've used that before but this was very simple. Quote Link to comment
APE Design Ctr
How do you chamfer your corners then? Cut a profile from it? Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
If you are refering to the crown in the coffered ceiling I don't, the crown just runs straight through. Any outside miters I use the Split by Line tool for the miter. Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Here're a couple of views of Nicholas' model rendered in Artlantis. It took about 5 seconds to export, about 5 seconds to move to the correct view, about 10 seconds to place the plants, person and background, and about 10 seconds to add the textures. Evening (1:30 minute set up lighting and 1:02 to render/export) and daytime (no time to set up lighting and 46 seconds to render/export). What I'd really like to try is Kaare's model. I'd be interested to see if I can get the same quality image as his (and how long it takes). Quote Link to comment
APE Design Ctr
I'd like to see your try on Kaare's model too! PS Anyone know where to find free interior HDRI's? Quote Link to comment
