v 12.5 render slowdown/failure

I hope theres an easy remedy for the agonizing slowness of renderings and (fairly often) failure to render at all from wireframe. It started with my downloading 12.5? Any thoughts?

I am modeling a samll kichen with some extruded cabinets and a few plug-ins 12,000kb.

It was so annoying when I could not show the model rendered at a cleint meeting..thank god I had jpegs

I was not asking for much- just fast renderworks!

Michelle, Could you be more specific. You say that you could not show the model rendered at a client meeting. Did the program freeze or crash? Did the rendering take too long; if so, how long is it taking? The more information that you can give, the better that Andrew can give assistance.

I am still using 12.0.1 and am reluctant to upgrade until these type of questions are resolved.

My rendering is going a bit faster with 12.5, compared to 12.0.1. You might check to see if you have a high resolution set in your viewport, or some other variable that is giving you slower than usual rendering.

Hello Michelle:

Was this in a viewport, or a design layer? If in a viewport the sheet layer DPI like PRetondo is talking about can really affect the speed that a viewport regenerates. Is there a lot of glass or mirror textures being used in the model? Area lights? Which version were you coming from - was 12.0.1 an acceptable speed in the same situation?
