Problems upgrading to 12.5 & dongle problems

Question

Trying to upgrade to 12.5, and coming up with an

"The software to be installed requires Administrator or higher level access privileges" Even thou I put in my administrator password.

Does this have anything to do with my dongle not working on the computer I'm trying to upgrade? Even before updating, my dongle wouldn't work on the computer. Haven't tried it in weeks, and now it doesn't work. This was the reason for trying to upgrade..

On 10.4.7

Any ideas?

Log out of the computer, log back in as the admin and proceed with the installation.

If you are prompted for the admin username and password, then you are not logged in as the admin.

You need to be logged in as the admin.

Are you positive that you are an admin of the local computer, not to the network?

If you are still having problems, please contact your local IT person to ensure you still have admin functions.
