Bruce Kieffer
I'm disappointed that the issue of VW remembering the size of the main window has not been fixed in 12.5. When I'm working, I resize my main window to fit inside my palettes. Then the next time I open that file, I want the window to be the size I made it last. Maybe this will get fixed in 12.5.1! Guest
This also may be a workspace locked issue. Please ensure that the workspaces folder is unlocked/read-writable as well as each workpace. Quote Link to comment
Bruce Kieffer
Thanks for the suggestion, but all are unlocked, so that's not the problem. Quote Link to comment
Guest
When you resize the document to fit inside your palettes are you making a change and then saving the document? Are you working in the same environment between file saves and closes? What I mean by this is: are you running in a multiple monitor configuration before the save and then in a single monitor configuration after the save? Documents seem to stay the same size that I make them - could you describe in detail the steps that you are performing them to display this problem? For example, 1: I do this. 2: I do that. etc. Thanks Bruce. Quote Link to comment
PeterT
I hate to suggest the obvious, but is it possible that "VectorWorks Preferences/Session/Palette Margins" is set to "None"? This will give the indicated behavior. Quote Link to comment
Bruce Kieffer
I have that setting to "both." To see screen shots of the problem go to: http://kcfi.biz/vw/window/ Quote Link to comment
PeterT
From what I can tell, you only get a margin on the right if you have a palette touching the right side of your screen. Since you have your OS X dock set to the right and you palette shifted left, VectorWorks does not see the palette as a right palette and takes your window all the way to your dock. You probably don't want to do this, but if you turn on dock hiding, you can put yor palette all the way to the right and the margin will then act correctly. I have never seen anyone putting thier dock on the right. Maybe Nemetschek never considered this configuration in the design of the window margins. Quote Link to comment
Bruce Kieffer
I tried moving the dock to the bottom and the same thing happens with the document window growing. Quote Link to comment
jbrhwy
My palettes are positioned on the left side of the screen including the navigation palette and the dock along the bottom, when the file is reopened the main screen remains where it was when the file was saved. Did not have your problem with any version of VW 11 or 12 including 12.5. Quote Link to comment
Bruce Kieffer
I tested it again with the dock hidden. When I close and reopen the file the document window stays the same size. When I quit and reboot the program by double clicking the document, it opens stretched again all the way to the bottom right corner. This problem is happening to me on two different Macs. Christiaan
I may be misunderstanding you Bruce but to save the size and position of your main window, set it up then 'save as template' and overwrite the file called "Default.sta" in Vectorworks/Templates/ Quote Link to comment

I just want my document window to be the size I set it the last time I saved and closed it. Quote Link to comment
