A better Break Line

Question

I'd like an intelligent Break Line tool that is aware of an objects fill/hatch, or simply has solid fill on one side with no fill on the other so as to achieve the 'better' or 'best' options as shown below:

Christiaan, as a workaround, you can get "better" results now by converting the breakline to a polyline (<cntr + k> in my system), then making it a solid fill. I use this polygon to create a clipped mask to get "best" results.

While I agree that your proposal would make life easier for us if it could be implemented faultlessly, the "faultlessly" part of that requirement makes me nervous. NNA still hasn't been able to fix another tool that requires interaction between two coincident objects - the Trim tool.

Though I share your sentiment, Pete, I'm jumping on this bandwagon anyways.

Furthermore, I wish the break line could be used to trim other objects (trim command) such as lines and walls AT THE BREAK LINE instead of at the extent of the squiggly "break height," which is silly.
