StudentUser_18
I am trying to make a 3D model of the Nissan 350Z. It's to scale, and I have it extruded. Before I did extrude the 2D polygon I started with, I used the fillet tool on most of the points, but didn't turn out so well. Now that I have an extruded model, I'm using the 3D fillet tool. But when I highlighted a line, its description came up as "Extrude - Locked". Can anyone help me by explaining what that means, and if possible, how to fix it? Thanks (by the way, I'm a sophomore in high school, but I do have reasonable experience with VectorWorks. I'm taking many drafting/engineering classes that use the program throughout all of high school, so I will learn more in the future) Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
To lock or unlock an object, select it and go to the menu item MODIFY>LOCK (UNLOCK). BTW, it sounds like you're doing fine and it's great they're using VW's in your classes. Quote Link to comment
islandmon
This just proves that improved technology is replacing improvised experience ... my first 3D CAD project was an extruded cube ! Geez ... in High School all I had was a lousy Austin Healy Roadster... talk about challenging. StudentUser_18 is working on modeling his 350Z ... don't forget to include the pop-up SatelliteNavigation Panel. Quote Link to comment
StudentUser_18
Heheh...thanks CipesDesign! Oh yeah, and don't worry islandmon, I'm working on that Navigation System! Thanks again! Quote Link to comment
StudentUser_18
Oops, I forgot to mention that I have VectorWorks 12.0.0, and I didn't find the lock/unlock command under the model pulldown menu. Is there a lock/unlock command on version 12? Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Try the "MODIFY" menu, @ the bottom ;-) Quote Link to comment
StudentUser_18
Haha, I was in the Classic Workspace, so there was no Modify menu! That REALLY helps now. Thats why I didn't see it! So I switched to Designer. Heheh, that's kinda funny I didn't think about looking under a different workspace... Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Good for you! I was wondering if maybe you were working in another (older) workspace. Glad you're a happy person now :-) Quote Link to comment
