Must be simple...staking out a road.

Please can someone help...

I am trying to build my first DTM, and have done ok with setting up the existing and now i need to add a road! i have followed the manual and have a polyline but it wont allow to stake it out (place station points) the tab is greyed out. it is so simple to get to this stage but i must have something wrong. I am doing it on the same layer as the dtm with arc polyline . Any ideas?

On version 12: Select the polyline then go to MODIFY>CONVERT>OBJECTS FROM POLYLINE. Then in the dialog that comes up select the type of object, etc. HTH's

Another thing I have found I need to do most of the time is to use arc smoothing. Sometimes this solves the problem even if the line is straight.

The poly line must have only arc and corner vertices. Even if you don't the command shouldn't be greyed out but will fail with an error dialog box.

Also, you do have only the polyline selected when you go to run the Station on Polyline command - right? If you don't have a polygon or polyline selected the menu command will be greyed out.

I am finding that if i use vectorworks on a PC it will allow me to do it but not if I use my MAC, there seems to be a few differences between the two.
