Taproot
I like using stack layers ... but how do you double check measurements? The ruler, line, etc.. are all disabled. Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
You should enter this in the WISH LIST. I agree, it seems like an unecessary disability. Quote Link to comment
MKingsley
This is definitely a wish list item here, too. In the meantime, I've found that you can make what feels like shaky but accurate measurements with Stacked Layers on just by floating the 2D selection tool from point to point, first waiting over the first point until the coordinates in the mode bar read "0" and then moving to the next point without clicking and quickly looking at the relevant coordinate before it resets itself if you move the mouse a little. That's the shaky part. This only works from end points, however. HTH. Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
I'd like to have all tools enabled, let alone just the measuring tape. I thought Stack Layers was going to bring the ability to work on the model while being able to see the whole model at once. unfortunately this isn't currently the case. Quote Link to comment
NickB
Totally agree with everything that's been said. The workaround that I use is to have a layer with it's Z height at 0. If you make that layer active and then to use the 3D pointer with snap to object turned on it will give you accurate X,Y,Z coordinates in the bar at the top for points on objects in any layer. CipesDesign
Or just use a good old layer link. Quote Link to comment
Taproot
Or how about just holding a scale up to the screen? No, seriously, the feedback is enlightening. I'll try NickB's suggestion and given time, I'll add this to the Wish list items. Quote Link to comment
