Martin
Hello All, Has anyone had any problems with other users opening your Spotlight file? My gaffer has SL on her laptop. She can open the file, but cannot modify any of the fixtures in the OIP? It is as if she doesn't have Spotlight, but instead has regular VW. The splash screen is saying that she is running SL. Thanks, Martin Quote Link to comment
Guest
Have her make sure the layer and class options are set to show snap modify others. Quote Link to comment
Martin
Thanks Katie, Can you expand on that thought. I don't see how one has anything to do with the other. -M Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted October 2, 2003 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 2, 2003 Have her try to insert an instrument in a blank file. Doing this will insure that the instrument works correctly on the laptop. If she is unable to insert and edit in the document, there may be a problem with her copy of Spotlight. Quote Link to comment
Guest
MArtin, If you do not have layer and class options set to the correct visibility, they may not be able to select or modify objects. Under the organize menu is Class Options and Layer Options. Set these to show snap modify others. If they are set to gray others, that would explain why she can't select anything. ANother thing that may not allow her to select anything is layer scale or view. If the current active layer is set to a view other objects are not set as, you cannot select objects on that layer. The same holds true if the current active layer is set to a scale other than the scale of the other objects. Quote Link to comment
Tom Grabowski
" The same holds true if the current active layer is set to a scale other than the scale of the other objects." That will explain why I can't sometimes select an object. Quote Link to comment
Martin
Thanks folks, But there is a misunderstanding. It's not that she can't select the unit on the screen. It's in the OIP (Object Info Pane). She cannot modify any of the instruments information such as 'channel' and 'unit number', etc. Her splash screen says she has spotlight. The fixtures are not gray. She can move them around and rotate them and such. Quote Link to comment
Guest
Did you try Kevin's suggestion with having her try to place an instrument and see if she can change that data? In the OIP, are the fields grayed or does she try to type something in for say channel and it won't take the new value? Quote Link to comment
