Printing from MAC to Windows Shared 1220c

Steve Berger

Question

I am supporting a registered user of VW10.5 running on MAC OSX 10.3. He has an HP DeskJet 1220C printer that worked fine when directly connected to the MAC. We are trying to run the printer connected via parallel cable to a Win2K PC and shared over the network to which the MAC is connected. Can connect to shared printer from MAC and have tried using the HP 1220C Gimp 4.2.5 (from memory) configuraton available in the MAC library at the MAC end. A3 printing works but is of terrible quality with aliassed lines and broken lines where they should be solid. I have tried using HP's Version 2 and Version 1 driver on the PC but get the same results. From other postings I can see that it is possible that the VW print options are not optimally set, but I know nothing about running VW.

Any advice on getting this setup to work would be greatly appreciated.

If you can print normally when connected directly, it is unlikely to be a VW issue.

From VW onn the Mac, save a print as a PDF (in the print dialog box), open it in Preview, and then print it. Any improvement?

What happens if you print a non-Vectroworks graphic documents from the Mac? Still lousy?
