ENCAD T200; Can this machine work with VW & Mac?

Henry Finch

Question

I see that an ENCAD T200+ is a prize for the VW sketch competition.

Can this printer be hooked up to a MAC or Mac network?

Does it need to do postscript?

Its 4 black cartridge option for very very fast monochrome printing and low ink costs sounds great! If it needs windows, could a very cheap windows machine be bought as a driver using the VW viewer?

I found a link to Macroenter that sells the Encad T200 for MAC.

I guess this can be called 'a solution'.

I don't know anything about the company.

Here is their answer:

Dear Henry,

The T-200 bundle includes the Microspot X-RIP which is the driver for Mac OS

X and it is a non Postscript driver, then you can print from Mac OS X using

VectorWorks, and any other application except Illustrator.

The T-200 can give you a very good photo quality by printing 60 sf/hour and

if you need, you can place 4 black inks and get high speed monochrome

getting over 500 sf/hour. The printer includes the stands, basket, roll

feed, color kit and 128 MB in buffer. To install the printer in network we

sell separated the SEH IC-105 a 10/100 TX print server fully compatible with

Mac OS X, windows and linux for $ 189.

The X-RIP can be shared with the other computers in network and print from

any Mac OS X machine in the same network, by using a non dedicated server.

Please find below the prices for the solution:

T-200 bundle $ 2,999

SEH IC-105 $ 189

Total $ 3,188

Sincerely

Paul
