kjg
I want to place cables along a cable path, but they all follow the whole path beginning to end. Is this just not a feature? My cable path is on the floor, not truss or anything rigged. I don't want to draw a path for each cable, that would be hundreds of paths, I am trying to draw one big path along the jobsite and then drop the cables where they go and have them join the path from there to the distro. Vectorworks, Inc Employee Scott C. Parker Posted April 8 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted April 8 @kjg What version of VW are you using? Please post a sample file so that the collective can take a look. It’s best to copy the problem items into a new file to keep the file small and avoid any NDA issues at hand. Please use a definable file name. We get so many named “sample.” 🙂 Thanks, Scott Quote Link to comment
LiteDoctor
@kjg I think I know what you're trying to do. The solution might be to give your cable path "off ramps" around the site and use them to connect cables to the path. I've attached a file so you can see what I mean. First I ran a cable path around the room and dropped a few fixtures to test. The first fixture, as you have probably seen, just shot a line direct to the distro. Not what you want. The second fixture (upper Right) I drew a Cable Path that connected to that light. Gets me the proper run, but a lot of Paths to draw. For the last fixture (lower Right) I just dropped a small spike on the cable path. When I drew the cable I started at the distro: Then ran straight down to the "spike" (note the Red line to indicate the cable will connect to that path) From there I dropped the cable on the fixture and got this result: Is that what you're looking for?
