D5 use in Vectorworks ends up with a crash, every time.

Recommended Posts

Hello all.

I have been using D5 for a while now, and with the latest VWX release, 2026 4.0.1, if I want to use the D5 tool, everything works fine. Until I go back to VWX and try to turn off the tool. Then it's a hard crash to desktop. Every time. Doesn't matter what file, I've tried 5. Doesn't matter the order; Close D5 before returning to VWX, Leave D5 open, Close the D5 project file. When I tried closing the VWX file, it also crashed without saving.

Any thoughts?

Hi, I tried it:

1. Models with/without textures can be synced to the D5Render normally.
2. If the material contains textures, and an abnormal linkage state such as colsing D5Render/disconnecting linkage during the linkage process, VW will shut down abnormally (no material/solid color material will work normally).

Is this the case?

Thank you yuefei
In my case as I stop the link or pass to a plan view, crash is immediate

And yes, I have 2 or 3 different links from Vectorworks

This is necessary in order to split the model into smaller parts: say fixed parts vs variable ones

(I think we all are waiting for the possibility of managing the imported objects individually as in Twinmotion)

What I'm wondering is if Dropbox syncing can affect somehow, but till now didn't cause any problem

Also I'm using an external SSD for D5 resources

Do you use Dropbox, too?
