Adapter not visible on front of equipment

Recommended Posts

When placing an adapter at the front of an equipment its not visable on the sheet layer. The adapter at the rear side is visible, see attached screen shot. The front adapter is just behind the front of the device. I have to move the adaptor manually to the front. I also added a screen shot of editing the equipment where you can see that the working plane is set behind the front. I guess this is causing the problem. I also tested it with a clean CC-template. I expected the working plane to be set automatically, but I could be (doing something) wrong.

In the picture you see also a modular frame with some test cards. I have provided the cards with an adapter on the back. These adapters are not visible in the sheet layer. I think because of the "solid" back of the modular frame, see 3rd picture. Is there a solution for this? Maybe an open rear of the modular frame...?

All comments, tips and tricks are welcome 🙂

Hi @Nikolay Zhelyazkov,

Thanks for pointing it out to me. I didn't expect equipment to have a front door as standard, there is no option to turn it on/off in the Equipment-item object-info.

Regarding the modular frame: after playing around with the viewport settings, the outline of the back of the cards and the adapters became visible, see image. Is there also a way to show the CC-Equipment-Text-SlotNames in the Sheet-Layer?

Erik

Yes, viewports have their own class visibility settings so you have to edit them separately. Let me know if this got the job done.

Hi @Nikolay Zhelyazkov,

I have tried many viewport options, especially the "Hidden Object Display" > "Class - Display" settings, but with out result.
If you have a tip, I'd love to hear it.

Can you share a test file showing the issue? It would be easier that way than trying to guess what is going on.

Thanks for the file. Okay so here is what is going on:

1) You are trying to see the texts of the adapter slots that are inside of the rack frame. For this to happen you would have to hide the rack frame back panel, which is in the class "CC-RackFrame-Graphics-General" where most of the rack frame graphics are also, so hiding it will hide the rack frame entirely which might not be what you are looking for...

2) Your adapter slots are a bit offset from the equipment items rear panel and it is hiding them. I have tried adding new adapter slots to the rear of the equipment item and they correctly get added to the rear, so maybe you changed the depth of your equipment item to get them offset?

One thing that you can do atm is to move your adapter slots a bit further back from the equipment item so that they stick out of the rack frame as well. That way you will be able to see them in the section viewports.

Thanks @Nikolay Zhelyazkov, I'm now getting pretty close to what I have in mind, see picture below. I still have to make a few beauty adjustments...

FYI:
Correct I adjusted the depth of the equipment somewhere in the middle, which made it harder to get it right 🙈
After (re)placing the adaptor at the normal rear position it became visible in the sheet layer. For this the distance between card and adapter at the rear is sufficient by default.
