Cristiano Alves
Hi everyone, I’ve been consistently missing a basic musician and instrument library in Vectorworks Spotlight. In most stage design projects I need to include human figures and instruments to establish proper scale — especially when presenting layouts to non-technical clients, where human proportion is essential to communicate spatial relationships and overall composition. Currently I rely on external repositories and import 3D models (often SketchUp or similar formats). The issue is that these assets significantly increase file size and negatively impact project performance. At the very least, I would expect a standard event-oriented library to include: Basic drum kit (with and without musician) Guitarist with guitar Bass player Pianist (standing and seated) Upright/acoustic piano DJ with booth/controller Wind instruments (e.g., saxophone, trumpet, trombone) Performative human figures (not only generic standing people) Considering Spotlight is specifically aimed at live events and entertainment design, it feels odd that these fundamental assets are not included in the default content. How do you handle this? Is there an internal library I might be missing? Do you create simplified low-poly custom symbols? Any recommended workflow to keep files lightweight? Appreciate your input. 1 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee JustinVanHassel Posted March 3 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted March 3 Have you looked in the Entertainment>Stage>_Generic Folder in the RM? There are drum kits, guitars, orchestra equipment, pianos, concert chairs, and other instruments in there. 1 Quote Link to comment

A drum kit its ok add without a drummer. But normally for guitar, bass, piano the productions request me to add with people. I need add a sketch ware house objects. 21 hours ago, JustinVanHassel said: @scottmoore also has great symbols available for purchase of backline instruments and equipment. https://www.edgelightrgb.com/product/vwx-backline-symbols Thank you the suggestion. 1 Quote Link to comment
