fips
Using the mirror tool with connectcad equipment produces a mirrored / unreadable font. with standard text this is is no issue: On vw 2026 update 3.1 macos. Edited February 20 by fips 2 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Conrad Preen Posted February 24 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 24 @fips yes this is true of any 3D object containing text. And here's something to think about, in general if you mirror a 3D object, it is no longer the same object. If it was a left-handed object the mirrored object would be right-handed. So using the mirror tool in these cases is relying on the object having symmetry about the axis of reflection. I don't think this will be possible to resolve in the way you want. fips
I see your point - but thats not very practical. When using the mirror tool, spotlight objects just seem to create another object, that is not truely mirrored but rotated by 180° - maybe that is a way to go? This would make creating bulks of objects a lot easier. Bildschirmaufnahme 2026-02-26 um 17.08.08.mov 1 Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Sounds like there needs to be a Spotlight/ConnectCAD "mirror" tool that "reflects" the object across the axis without flipping it. Or an additional mode to the Mirror tool. Edit 2-27-26. I have added an Enhancement Request for a tool or tool mode to do this. 1 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Conrad Preen Posted Monday at 07:42 AM Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted Monday at 07:42 AM @Pat Stanford that feels a bit redundant. @fips let me see what the Spotlight guys are doing exactly. It looks like the insertion point is mirrored while the object is drawn without a reflect/rotate transform. That makes sense when what we are modelling is a real-world product. Thanks for pointing this out. By the way the reason I was being theoretical and not practical was to get you to think about what you REALLY want. And you gave me an example - super! - thanks! Pat Stanford
Actually, in thinking about it more, I have custom symbols (representing real world objects) that I would like to be able able to reflect across an axis without mirroring the objects. Perhaps a general mode in the Mirror tool would be better than Spotlight and ConnectCAD specials. 1 Quote Link to comment
