using Viewport / View Area inside a Title Block symbol???????POSSIBLE?????

StinkyMojinto

Question

I have a workflow question regarding references, view areas, and layout layers in Vectorworks.

I have a floor plan as a referenced file in my drawing. In the design layer, I create a view area (Ansichtsbereich anlegen / viewport) from this reference.
After that, I create a Layout (Sheet Layer) to print the drawing.

We use a custom title block as a symbol placed on the layout layer.

My question is:
Is there any method to place a view area / viewport inside the title block symbol?

At the moment, when I try this, I get a warning that viewports (Ansichtsebene) cannot be placed on a layout layer inside a symbol.

Is this a general limitation in Vectorworks, or is there a recommended workaround for this workflow?

Thank you very much for your help

You are correct, Viewports cannot be contained inside a Symbol.

One option would be to export your Viewport as a PDF then reference that PDF into your drawing and place that into the Title Block Symbol.

You would have to repeat the export and update the reference if/when the external files changes.

The simpler method would be to create a SLVP of your referenced DLVP and scale & place that on each of the relevant Sheets
