Lack of transparency with OSX

Question

Reading some of these postings it seems you can't print transparent overlays with OSX, whatever printer you use, because of the operating system. Is that really true? Does it apply to all graphics programmes - such as Illustrator for example? Is there no way round it? If so, it is surely a serious deficiency of OSX - or have I misunderstood something here?

It's because of lack of QuickDraw supports under OS x and Post Script plotters.

Non-PS plotters can print transparency, however PS plotters cannot under OS 10.

VW 10.5 has a print as raster feature which will allow you to print to your PS printer as a raster image that can support transparency.

PS plotter drivers interpret raster image different than they do vector data which is why printing as a raster image may address the situation.
