Darin K
Can someone explain how he is quickly showing an extrude in Iso view while the rest of the sheet stays in 2D? Skip to 1:35 of this video: Quote Link to comment
markdd
The demonstrator is using Legacy 2d functionality and is working on a Design Layer (even though it looks like a Sheet Layer). The copy of Vectorworks they are using is 2016, and this functionality was made "legacy" in about 2022. It still exists, but you have to enable it in versions after about 2022. Go to Document Settings and enable Legacy 2D. Turn off Unified View, and then only the active layer will change when you change the projection. Edited January 12 by markdd Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Or better yet, don't enable it unless you absolutely need that kind of display. The functionality is considered legacy and will impact what you can do through the life of the project. Better if you need to see both is to turn on Multiple View Panes from the View menu. From there you can set each pane to a different view so you can see the plan and model in 3D at the same time. 3 Quote Link to comment
Darin K
I have no reason to use it, just thought it was an interesting feature (esp. with him showing a 3D version of the object on his orthographic view). Quote Link to comment
Jonathan Pickup
A really quick way to set up a sheet layer with multiple views, which will give you the third angle projection plus isometric, is to use the create multiple viewports command. This allows you to choose which views you want to create and will place them all on a sheet layer for you. 2 Quote Link to comment
