Elllaaa
Help! While updating old venue plans, I've been trying for days to create this dress circle balcony in 3D, and it's doing my head in. I can take the shape profile from the very old 2D plans pictured, and then extrude along path, but can't then use the deform tool to get the shape to bend correctly more than once. I assume because the shape becomes too complex? This balcony will purely be an aesthetic addition to the overall file, to make the dress circle seating look less strange (not like it's just chairs floating in mid air) so it doesn't have to be perfect as this won't be the main focus of the file. There has to be at least a semi straightforward way to do this... Quote Link to comment

michaelk
Your best bet is probably a loft surface with 1 rail. If you know the path of the balcony edge in plan and elevation you can plot a few points, draw the curve, then make another nurbs curve for the profile and loft it. https://app-help.vectorworks.net/2026/eng/VW2026_Guide/Shapes2/Creating_a_loft_surface.htm?rhsearch=loft surface&rhhlterm=loft surface surfaces Quote Link to comment
Kevin Allen
a plan might help, but a sweep and solid subtractions Quote Link to comment
