Dialog Window Size Too Big - VWs 2026 Update 2

Greg Abel

Question

Greetings, Updated to VW 2026 #2 and now the dialog box (window) size in Windows 11 cannot select bottom area to select Done or Okay.

Single monitor makes no difference.  Only happened since updating VW 2026 to update #2.

Rebooted as well.

See attached.

Hi @Greg Abel,

Could you try the following steps and see if the issue is fixed?

  • Select menu command "Tools > Options > Vectorworks Preferences...".
  • Select "Session" in the side bar.
  • Press the "Reset Saved Settings..." button.
  • Make sure "Tool modes, dialog positions, palette positions and dialog values" checkbox is selected.
  • Press the "OK" button in the "Reset Settings" dialog.
  • Press the "OK" button in the "Vectorworks Preferences" dialog.

I have same kind of issue. Same dialog window but buttons are still visible, image.thumb.png.ba96733d69843c11531c035f7adb455f.png. I my case window gradually grew in size until it has stayed in this size for a while now. Happened already on  Update 1. Dialog window does not have handles to change size.

Windows 11 25H2, Vectorworks 2026 U2.

I am also having this issue, this seemed to fix it at first but it did not actually fix the problem.

Every time I open a dialog box they grow in size, getting a bit larger than the previous time.

Hi @swcreative,

We found several dialogs had this issue and had fixed them in Update 2. If you are using Update 2 and take the mentioned steps to reset dialog sizes, I believe the issue should go away. If you still experience the issue, please let me know what dialog it is, or file a VB bug. Thanks!

I am on update 2 and tried this fix but the issue remains.  The dialog box that has the issue is the "Resource name conflict" dialog, this dialog appears when trying to add a symbol to my file with the same name as an existing symbol in the document).  This dialog gets larger and larger each time it appears.

@swcreative,

Thank you very much for sharing the information. We have confirmed that it was a bug, and it will be fixed in Update 3.
