Printing Transparent Layers

Question

Does anybody know how to print transparent layers?

I have used the overlay option in the layers pallette to create transparency but when I send it to print using a colour fiery postscript printer the transparent image does not show confused.gif" border="0

Transparency is not a feature supported by the Postscript language. It can be faked for some circumstances by rendering the Postscript code into a bitmap, but then you lose the efficiency and accuracy of Postscript.

If you want a transparent section of your file to print, you will either have to print to a QuickDraw or raster based printer.

One other way to do small areas is to Export that section of your file as an image, and then reimport it on top of the original. It's not as high quality and much slower, but it will get you a transparency effect on a Postscript printer.
