I'm getting an odd issue with warning popups in 2026, update 1

Every time I get a warning menu the size of the popup increases. 

Once they are larger than the screen size, I can't reduce them and they just keep getting larger ...and then all of a sudden, for no apparent reason they pop back to the normal size.

 

This isn't a workflow issue as the relevant areas are in the upper left-hand corner and are always accessible - but I thought it might be a bug

 

 

Here is the resource name conflict warning - taller than my screen and almost the width of my second monitor.

We had something similar on Mac quite some time ago.

AFAIR it was the File Open Dialog with ever rising window width .....

Which was an Apple bug and had to be fixed by them.

 

Likely the current issue is a Windows bug and not much VW will be able to do.

 

Also, it is kind of strange this is the first time I have seen this reported.

 

Have you done all the usual trouble shooting? Starting with restarting the computer?

The first thing it did was restart vectorworks, then restart Windows.

The menus still kept behaving oddly.

 

It's been a couple of days and it comes back with restarts every day.

Strange that I have not heard of anyone else reporting this issue.

 

Check Video Drivers?

Call Tech Support?

 

Try the other standard troubleshooting tips?  (I have already posted them a couple of times in the last week or so, so you only get a link instead of a repost 😉 )

Try resetting your user saved settings. Tools>Options>Vectorworks Preferences>Session>Reset Saved Settings
I'm going to guess that you are using Windows on a high DPI monitor with the scale set to something other than 100%.
We have had a few reports of various dialogs growing in size growing in size because of the scale setting especially with multiple monitors of different resolution.
I think after a certain point the overall dialog becomes larger then the screen and gets reset the the default size.

@klinzey I do have two monitors, a laptop and a second monitor.

 

Laptop scale is set to 250% (the "recommended" setting)

Second Monitor scale is set to 150% (also the recommended setting)

Both are at their recommended resolution.

 

And yes, after growing each time, they do eventually reset to default.

Video driver did need to be updated as of Oct 15th - I've done this and will check back in if that fixes the issue.

 

 

I do not have this issue with 2025
