VR headset requirements and optimization Quest 3

I'm looking to purchase a VR headset to visualize my Models. There are different options. I'm looking at the Quest 3S. How much memory do I need? I'm looking at the Quest because it sounds like they have the most integration with Vectorworks. Are they the best option?

Hey!. 

 

 

I have the Quest3 (not 3s). The Integration of VW into the Quest environment is pretty easy. Otherwise, you have to develop in Unity or Unreal.

if you run in tethered mode (connected to your PC or laptop,) the headset memory is not really used. You are just streaming from your PC.

If you want to load models onto the device so you can bring it anywhere without needing the special USBc cord, then you will need space to store the model.

 

With that said, our models are pretty small, 100mb or so. They are not very sophisticated environments. no lighting, flat textures, etc. so they don't take up much space compared to games. etc.  

 

I went with the 3 because there was a good deal right before the 3s came out. but the 3s looks very solid too, slightly different lens/ resolution, but still great for viewing arch models, etc. 

 

I hope some other folks can jump in with opinions, happy to talk more about it offline,
