Worksheet Layout and spaces trouble

Gaëtan R.

Question

Hi,

The improves of the worksheet functionalities in 2026 are very welcomed, but I’m still experiencing a very annoying behaviour : the layout which appears in the worksheet window is not the same as the worksheet image when the worksheet is the design layout.

Spaces between lines are different and also, sometimes a sentence which is on 1 line inside the worksheet are in 2 lines when the worksheet is on the design layer. (see attachments).

This is really annoying when I try to make a clean layout as what I see in the worksheet is not what I get in the design layer.

Is this known ?

is is a bug ?

@Stephan Moenninghoff?

Thanks,

Hi @Gaëtan R.  my take would be it’s probably a technical limitation but I also think it’s worth filing a VE. Maybe this can be made more WYSIWYG!

Hi @Stephan Moenninghoff
I come back with the worksheets appearances.

More than the previous on between what is displayed inside the worksheet environment and what is displayed in the Vectorworks drawing environment, there is another one between what is in Vectorworks and what is exported in a PDF, specifically with spaces.

Here is an example.

That is annoying with numbers. In France, thousands are separated with spaces. That is a system setting. I can’t customised it. (macOS).

May be it is more a bug rather than a enhancement requisition doesn’t it ?

More over, I’ve got a Thai friend. Write in thai inside Vectorworks is not possible (see image attachment…), again, because of bad space management by Vectorworks…

What is possible to do ?

Vectorworks files are attached.

@Gaëtan R. go ahead and file both of these as separate issues. I am not sure Vectorworks officially supports Thai characters but it may be worth a VE. As for the number format, it looks like it should work but I'd file a bug with the sample file included. Thanks! (I exported your file using a British keyboard and it seemed to work ok. Both samples were right-aligned and looked like they were number-formatted.)

The thing that bothers me along these lines, if you have a worksheet on the drawing, why do I have to open another window to edit it? Just change the tool bar to show all the options I would need in situ.

Just my 2 cents....

Please note that it is not linked to a keyboard setting but to a system setting. Writing numbers differently that with spaces as thousands separators would be considered as an error.
