This would overcome the irritation when viewports move and one has to constantly reposition the drawing label.

I could see this as being a good improvement where you have one or two drawings on the Sheet.

But when you have a Sheet of smaller SLVPs or a Sheet of Details, I could see having Drawing Labels directly on the Sheet being counterproductive — you could increase the risk of the user moving drawings too far and getting confused about which Drawing Label is referring to which SLVP.

I think a Data Tag which can read the same info as the Drawing Label would be a good solution as is suggested.

Our proforma sheet template indicates the location of drawing or detail on the sheet.

There is a drawing label there already filled in with drawing number, i.e. 'Detail 1', and expected scale, but the scale and drawing title is entered manually at the moment.

I would like to be able to simply 'associate' the drawing title i.e. data tag, to the viewport after placement of the viewport, and it automatically pull in the information (and populate the information) from the viewport.

If the viewports are named correctly, then I would not expect it to cause too much confusion.

I voted for the original suggestion but prefer the Data Tag suggestion.  Either or both would be great.
