michaelk
Is there a way to change the way the editable worksheet sorts? When I tell it to sort by channel, it sorts the channels alphabetically - so that channel 100 comes before channel 2. Quote Link to comment
Tom Grabowski
For that I use channel 002 Quote Link to comment
michaelk
I was hoping for a way to change the channel field to a numeric field. I don't want to have a channel 002, a dimmer 002, and a unit number 02. Quote Link to comment
michaelk
Ok. I tied using channel 002, dimmer 002, and unit 02. It doesn't accept the leading zero's. Is there really no way to make the channel field numeric? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted December 13, 2002 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 13, 2002 It's a pain, but enter ='0002' into the cell. Quote Link to comment
Guest
It's an OS counting thing. It counts by the leading number, not by place value. If you have files called 1, 2, 3, 11, 12, 13, 21, 22, 23, they will be listed as 1, 11, 12, 13, 2, 21, 22, 23, 3, etc. The only way to change this is to add the leading 0's when appropriate. SilentG
When creating your editable worksheet, include the field "altchan" (near the bottom of the list) and sort by that field. Apparently, VectorWorks automatically writes your channel info into this field but sorts it differently, such that your channels will show up as 1,2,3,4,5 as opposed to 1, 10, 11, etc Quote Link to comment

michaelk
That Alt Chan is very cool. Here's the wierd thing: The Alt Chan data for channels 1 - 20 are dates. Above that the data is exactly the same as the Channel field. If I even scroll over to the Alt Chan field, it never sorts correctly again. Any ideas? Quote Link to comment
