monteverett
Hi. I've been trying to import 3dm files for sets from our art department to do drawings for a tv show. Whenever I try to import one of these files, seemingly regardless of size, Vectorworks goes non responsive. The task manager shows it using 96 percent of the ram (60GB) and shows no GPU usage. I've set vectorworks to favor the gpu rather than the motherboard, but it still doesn't seem to like it. Is there anything I'm missing? Attached is a screen shot of the performance tab of the task manager during an import. Thanks in Advance Quote Link to comment
jmcewen
Sorry, late to the party, and you probably have already gotten past this problem for the time being, but on the chance that you are still fighting this, here are my 2 cents. I may be wrong, but I believe that the GPU is not used when importing regardless of your settings. The GPU is only active in display functions, not in calculating actual model geometry. And even then the GPU doesn't function in all rendering settings. As far as memory goes, 64gb is a very healthy amount and I don't think you should be bottlenecked by that just with a 3dm import. Do you have other things running in the background or a Chrome window with a lot of tabs open? Quote Link to comment
VIRTUALENVIRONS
Do you want to post the file if it is not NDA and we can try it. Are you on a Mac or PC? Quote Link to comment
