FMA
One problem I find with working in VW is that moving/selecting objects does not work optimally. For example, here I want to move the blue selected rectangle by its top left vertex. However when I click, the object being moved is actually the highlighted red rectangle. This seems a little unnessersary because it can be assumed, once you've selected an object, it is what you intend to move. Another problem is that the cursor position for moving an object by its vertex, and editing that object are almost identical. This makes the control extremely fidgety and hard to use. Is there a way to optimize this and similar controls in the program settings? As a note: Im still working in VW23, maybe some things have been altered since then. markdd
I agree - it would not be unreasonable for the SmartCursor to assume that the selected object is the one you intend to move. That seems like a nice improvement. There are two solutions, which would be 'workarounds' - Change the drawing order of the blue rectangle using the Send commands or use the Move By points tool. That was fixed at one point around VW 2017 or so and worked well over years. Until a regression in VW 2024 (?) or 2025 - now it's broken. Quote Link to comment

The second point I found out can be remedied by scaling up the activation area of the cursor in program settings. Quote Link to comment

I see it is still broken in VW 2025 SP5 - in 2D Top Plan View (Num0). When in Top Plan View, as soon as I hover my cursor over another Object in foreground, it will get highlighted and therefore switch Selection as soon as I click to try to grab the first Selection ...... But I see that it works in a 3D Top View (Num+5) !? In the past, before VW could keep the Selection, my tedious workaround was to CMD+F "Send to Front" for the Object I would want to move or copy. Or use the Move by Points Tool if applicable. Quote Link to comment
