Grass stopped rendering from blades to flat! 2025

Question

So iv been rendering grass perfectly fine until all of a sudden its a flat colour while using the same render settings and same grass texture

Grass texture was made and applied to a solid extrusion, rendered perfectly in ANZ realistic exterior faster render mode

Grass check box is ticked

Tryed opening a new file, grass works in there so feels like my grass texture is corrupt in my file, deleted all grass textures and made a new one from scratch again, same problem with rendering flat in my file...Really dont want to have to move all my 3d models into a new file to continue rendering for grass blades. thats a-lot of sheet layers & viewports to re set up

I have performed update for 2025, not luck there after

a solution would be great! im on day 3 trying to figure this out!

If you’re saying that your grass texture worked in an earlier Update version of Vw2025, then you can roll back Vw2025 to an earlier version to see if your hypothesis is correct.

If it is, then you should file a bug report for it — if you haven’t already.

To roll back to an earlier Update version of VW, open the ‘Vectorworks 2025 Installation Manager’ app (inside the Vw Application folder). Click on the hamburger menu at the top right and select ‘Change Version’, and select the version you want to roll-back to.

Shaded Options has a check box to use or not use Textures

Custom Renderworks has a check box to use or not use Textures with a sub check box for Grass

Renderworks Styles have a check box to use or not use Textures.

Have you double checked that those (appropriate for your rendering mode) have not changed?

Have you tried a different Render Mode and see if you get the Grass texture to show there?

What rendering mode are you trying to use?

On further investigation it does work in final quality render mode but not in shaded, even if textures are switched on.

I was hoping to render a 3D poly circle and make it into a symbol, I do have basic 3D model grasses but with edges rendered they look a bit heavy.

Thanks

That explains it — Grass textures don’t render in Shaded mode.

From the help file:

Quote

Custom Renderworks and Renderworks styles have an option to deselect Grass, controlling when blades of grass are depicted. Then, only the ground color or ground image is shown, without rendering grass blades. Grass is always off for Fast Renderworks and always on for Final Quality Renderworks
