Point cloud import not working correctly

Andrew Lees

Question

Hello All,

Hopefully this is fairly straightforward to sort out..

This is the first time I have done this in VW25, but I carried out the import in the way I used to on VW24 - simply using the File>Import>Import Point Cloud to bring in point clouds captured previously on iPhone / Nomad and then saved onto my computer. But the imports are extremely sparse in terms of their number of points. The points seem to be arranged as columns on a grid (see screenshot) rather than being a full point cloud - as they indeed appear on Nomad. So the point clouds themselves are good. Import settings were set to import 100% or points, and the point count for one of them was in excess of 740000 points, which in my experience is about right for the size of scan it was - but it look like only a fraction of these points is showing.

Any idea what's going on?

is the imported point cloud far from the origin?  That’s what usually causes parsed point clouds in VWX.
