Antoine D'Halluin
Good morning gentlemen, Currently working on Lightplot presentations to display data informations not in top/plan view with several issues (on VW25) : 1) In case I use 3D label legend, is there a way to hide/suppress the "link"/ "connector" between fixture & legend in the 3D label legend manager ? (arrow red on picture) 2) I would like to add a "." (point) between Universe & DMX Patch (green round on picture above) ; I know we can use the standard grouped "univers/patch" ; but is there a way to force adding a symbol/drawing on label legend ? I tried in the label manager but never get it display whatever the class selected... 3) I would like to have Fixtue ID number colored same as fixture color (Wisiwyg habbit). for now we decided to color fixture based on dedicated classes refering to fixture type (spot / wash / blind...) & use one custom data visualization. Apart of having one label legend per fixture category/color required to specify a different label class on each, is there a way to have a dynamic coloring inside label legend ? I try to imagine some data vizualization here but did not find solution PS : I did consider creating custom datatags ; but I don't want to go on every single viewport annotation to add manualy datatag on every single fixture...sounds crazy unefficient timeconsuming. but maybe that is the way if this could be automated... thanks a lot for your answers ! kind regards Edited March 27 by Antoine D'Halluin Quote Link to comment
markdd
Select the Lighting Device, and in the Object Information Palette, change the Pen Style to None. Yes, but it's a hack. Label Legends will not report any data that does not exist within the lighting device. They will also not display Text or any other object for that matter that is not linked to the Lighting Device. SO you need to add the "point" as a field. I have used the Mark field as I have never used it for any thing before. Just place a "." and then make sure that it is reported to the Label Legend. I have enclosed a sample file. All Label Fields are assigned classes. Just change the class color for the Fixture ID or whatever field you use for that information, and you will get the result you need. You need to make sure that Use at Creation is checked in the Edit Class dialog. However, no fields will change color based on their content and Label Legends are coded to not respond to Data Visualization. So, to get exactly what you want, you will need to resort to a Data Tag and Data Visualization. Label Legend.vwx Data Tags are very efficient. With one click, a data tag can be applied to all lighting devices in a viewport. Hope that helps. Edited March 27 by markdd 1 1 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted March 27 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted March 27 Labels can be grouped in the label legend and additional text can be added to the group. Both 2D and 3D labels can be grouped and then moved by a single control point. Additional text objects can be added to a group of labels. For example, add a prefix, suffix, or separator. To avoid overlapping text, set the Horiz. Align/Vert. Align to adjust the label insertion point of the labels. See Item #3 in the Formatting the label legend layout section in the Vectorworks Help. 3 Quote Link to comment
Antoine D'Halluin
Thanks a LOT Mark ! This definitly helps ! you solved my need on topic 1 & 2. Thanks for the VWX example file. simple & efficient ! as you highlighted, your solution doesn't really solve my wish on coloring fixture ID based on fixture color as this is currently made via Data visualization & another split of classes. Maybe having several label is one easy workaround I will investigate the Data tags "multi" application in one click as you suggested thanks again Antoine Quote Link to comment

markdd
@Antoine D'Halluin With regard to the Universe.Address quandary - There is a MUCH better way that I had completely forgotten about! Go to Spotlight Preferences, and in the Parameters section, you can change the Universe/Address delimiter to "." by changing the default value to "." instead of "/". Double-click on the Univers/Address listing, and you will see this dialog. Change the Default value, and you should be good to go. You need to save the settings in the Settings menu above and check the Save as default check box at the bottom left. This will save a lot of fiddling about with label legends! 1 Quote Link to comment
