beanus
anyone know how to apply a bitmap image to a circular object? Quote Link to comment
Tom W.
One way is to right-click on texture in OIP + Add Decal... Did you mean a sphere? Decals don't show up in Shaded though so another option is just to make a texture from the image. Quote Link to comment
beanus
lions head.tiffountain base.vwx hi thanks for the reply, I'm trying to apply an single image of the lion head to each of the three sections of the fountain base, files attached Quote Link to comment
Tom W.
Yes like I said you could try using a Decal 2 Quote Link to comment
Claes Lundstrom
.... or making a little more 3D 😉 fountain base2.vwx 2 Quote Link to comment

VIRTUALENVIRONS
Yes, I guess we all forgot about that. Although I only figured this out this morning, here is my file. Hope it helps. I am not the best resource on this. It is not the demonic version, but you can have that one if you want. FORUM DECAL.vwx Edited March 9 by VIRTUALENVIRONS Quote Link to comment

Plus it can take a bit of searching to 'find' it initially (use Attribute Mapping Tool or H + V offsets in Render tab, OIP). Like I said earlier another option is to make the bitmap into a texture + apply it to the relevant faces using the Texture Tool. Quote Link to comment
VIRTUALENVIRONS
@Tom W. Hi Tom. I also found this to be the most confusing aspect of texture mapping in Vectorworks. The one thing that is not clear is where you find the "Add Decal" in the OIP palette. That was very frustrating. Once you know that, it all falls together. Quote Link to comment

That's what Help is for: "From the Texture Browser on the Object Info palette Render tab, right-click on the list item for the textured entity and select Add Decal from the context menu." 🙂 1 Quote Link to comment
VIRTUALENVIRONS
Although I regard your posts very highly, I think this is one time we must agree to disagree. The Decal thing is all over the place in Vectorworks.😀 Quote Link to comment
rDesign
There is also this YouTube video on Decal Textures; it’s 8 years old, but should still mostly apply. Quote Link to comment
